Now Playing: All These Things That I've Done-The Killers
Topic: Andrea Dworkin

Someone mentioned to me earlier in the week that hilarious feminist stereotype Andrea Dworkin had died. I just assumed they were making it up for a laugh and forgot about it, but it's true. I'm not sure what the cause of death was but I feel fairly certain it wasn't laughter.
What many people failed to notice about Dworkin is that like most people with no sense of humour she was a fine source of unwitting comedy. Her belief that that the penis was a 'symbol of terror' tickles my funny bone with it's blend of comedy and unhinged hysteria. 'Dead men don't rape' is let's face it, another belter and unusually for Ms Dworkin factually correct. Although, given her weak grasp of reality, I'm amazed she never tried to pin the odd sex crime on a male corpse.
Her death, however opens up the possibility that one day women can admit to being feminists without everyone thinking they are a hysterical boiler and dismissing everything they have to say on the subject accordingly.
In my own touching tribute to a fellow sister I think I shall spend the evening naked skim reading the Marquis de Sade with one eye and watching Debbie Does Dallas with the other. I am also certain that tonight's blog picture 'Ass in Car' by the lovely Richard Kern would have got a strong reaction from old Andrea. It also seems an appropriate image in that it sums up my feelings for her ideas in many ways.
